THE 'SHE' Zone
An Overall view and outlook on our organisations SHE attitude.
The Company goals of client satisfaction, ongoing business development and long term profitability are not in conflict with good safety practices. A good safety record is of great benefit to our business, whilst a safe and healthy working environment protects and encourages people - our most important asset.
As a company, at all different levels, we work as a team to achieve the best possible results in SHE commitment during each working project. We are always looking to strive for a safer place of work, improving on previous years statistics and setting targets for the current year.
Our safety culture is based on individual and group values, attitudes and patterns of behaviour from all personnel, clients and suppliers – altogether this determines the commitment to our organisation’s health and safety management system.
We take pride in the positive safety culture we have; it characterises our communication strategies which are founded on mutual trust, shared perceptions of the importance of safety and by confidence in the effectiveness of our preventative measures.
SHE policy
The health, safety and welfare of our employees along with the minimisation of our impact on the environment are the highest priorities for each and every one of us. As a company we will endeavour to provide and maintain sufficient resources in order to achieve this objective. With the continuous assessment and management of risk though the application of training, regular reviews of our policy, other SHE documentation and co-operation with our personnel – we are able to demonstrate a first class attitude to SHE and help to promote it in others.

Reduction in Accidents; Positive Attitude amongst working teams
AS is currently progressing a new SHE programme. This programme is to encourage a positive attitude for all employees towards health and safety. The programme will include a counselling service via a representative within the company, First Aid training days, health and safety awareness training and various toolbox talks. To remind everyone of Corus red stripes and relevant information from HSE, there are extensive poster displays, leaflet and guidance distribution, regular site audits, involvement from the working parties in producing risk assessments (to help remind them of the content of specific risk assessments), other training and newsletters.
The accident statistics for 2006/07 show a reduction in accidents for all sectors, and that we are on track to reach a new target; which is to be set over the next few months. Our aim is to sustain our improving efforts over the next year in order to be sure of continuous and increasing success.
An evaluation of the statistics has shown a high degree of awareness from most employees, and has been noted to change their attitude to SHE related matters. The application of better work practices has demonstrated an increased demand for a safer working environment and also awareness required for all work activities including any plant and equipment used.
We will be maintaining our objectives during 2007/2008 through a review of our SHE improvement plan; this will help enforce a stronger attitude towards a safer place of work and plan for the forthcoming years.
